Croatian living in Park City
After finishing the School of Applied Arts and Crafts Maja Ira (real name Maja Prelec) started the School of Design at the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb, Croatia. Where she graduated with a Master's in Industrial Design.
While still in University she had the opportunity to do Interior design on multiple projects before moving to the US. Since being here she began exploring painting and printmaking with a modern and minimalistic feel, often combining both techniques in her creative process.
Her block printing work depicts the beauty of the architecture in her surroundings portrayed in minimalistic and simplified illustrations transformed into linocut prints. As a Croatian who moved to Utah with a background in industrial design, she got intrigued with the aesthetics between the two.
